ESSENTIA (pronounced Essen-Sha) Magazine is a FREE quarterly email publication designed to nurture, inspire and encourage single moms (although all moms and dads can benefit) on various issues regarding life and parenting from a biblical perspective. While being a parent is a joy and a blessed privilege, this lifetime occupation is the most challenging. We have a solemn duty, a responsibility, to our Gifter, to raise our children in the way that pleases Him (Deut. 6:6-7, II Tim. 3:14-17), and not according to the world's philosophies. If we can accomplish this task in a biblical manner, it will result in God's blessings upon us and our children. Failure to do so will only result in heartache and grief (Prov. 17:25, Prov.6u 29:17). We'd be foolish to think we can handle it all on our own. No matter the highs and lows that lie ahead, it will work in our favor if we always remain faithful in putting God first (Rom. 8:28-29). That's God's Promise!

Furthermore, to effect godliness in our children's lives, we as parents (single or married) must lead by example. It is necessary that our lifestyle reflect the godliness we are trying to teach them. Not all issues we deal with have to do with raising our children; a lot have to do with us personally. We set the tone for our kids in dealling with many of life's inevitable problems. It is imperative that if we are going to claim to walk with God, we must practice what we preach, because our children are watching, even when we think they aren't.

Although the magazine caters to single mothers, ALL parents can benefit (single or married). Perhaps you might know someone in need of encouragement, or you yourself might be inspired by the articles we publish. Either way, the goal is to help each other. By sharing our joys, challenges and experiences, another parent might find the shared information insightful, because they too are experiencing a similar situation.

Our editorial is e-published/distributed the last Wednesday of January, April, July and October beginning 2009.

SOUL IN THE MIRROR is our FREE weekly self-confrontation e-Note, purposed to not only encourage all, but also to cause each of us to continuously examine our true selves and lifestyle as we claim to follow God. It is a must that we avoid the hypocrisy of judging others' failures without first looking at ourselves in a biblical manner, hence the name Soul in the Mirror.
